Texas in the late 1960s:   the Whit family meets for the funeral of grandfather Sparta.   This, however, is no normal funeral, and the Whits are no normal family. Grandpa returns as a ghost visible only to his grandson.  Other family members react as a story of deception, jealousy, and murder unfolds as family secrets are brought to light.
